practical, sturdy shoes

These are practical, sturdy shoes which hold up well to frequent use. My son wears them to school and they survive P.E. as well as muddy playgrounds. Good grips on the bottom. Easy to tie.

My son has had wide feet since he was an infant. He is 6 now and has been wearing wide width Stride Rite shoes since birth and has been wearing the Austin ever since preschool. I tried the Saucony's once before and HATED them! They didn't fit as well and they weren't nearly as durable as the Austin. I buy my son two pair every school year and will continue to buy them as long as they are available. They are a couple of dollars more than the Saucony, but well worth it.

We have always bought shoes from you since my oldest son was a year old! He has wide feet and it is very difficult to find wide shoes for kids. We don't have school uniforms, as people in the other reviews, but I have always gotten my kids white sneakers in the Spring! I hope that you will continue to always have a white shoe available for us! We definitely like the Austin Shoe that we most recently purchased, and we have purchased it in the past, as well! There is a reason why you have repeat customers for the same shoe!

This shoe is durable and seems to be comfortable. I needed wide width, and the first couple days my son complained that they hurt his little toe. After wearing a few days, they are fine and no complaints. The biggest problem we have with shoes is that my son slips them on his feet and pushes down the back of the shoe, then they end up wanting to go in that position all the time. These shoes do not do this. They are thicker and stronger and we have not have any problem. These are way better than the $60 shoes that were recommended by the school, which only lasted four months.

My son has a wide foot and it is very hard to find shoes. This shoe is labeled a 3W which is his size and he couldn't even put his foot in the shoe.

I went into my local stride rite shoe to buy the Austin. This is the 3rd year my son will be wearing them for school. I literally buy one pair and it lasts the entire school year! To my dismay, the salesclerk informed me they won't be selling that shoe anymore and I bought the Saucony! Biggest mistake ever!!!! After 5 weeks the entire front toe area has ripped all the way across. The shoe is also peeling at the sides where the rubber is. Worse shoe ever! Please if you are going to discontinue a shoe, be it the Saucony! Worst quality EVER!!!!! Austin is the best. It's a shame I have to spend more $$$$ after only 5 weeks of school! Hopefully, stride rite will heed the call of all the loyal shoppers and get rid of this shoe! KEEP THE AUSTIN!!!!!!!

These are the best uniform shoe around! My kids have worn these shoes every school year, except one. That year we tried the all-white, "uniform shoe" by Saucony. Both kids got a hole in the toe of the shoe within 3 months and they weren't the only ones. Many of the kids at school had the same issue. We went through 3 or 4 different pairs of shoes that year. We came back to the Austin. They used the one pair ALL YEAR LONG. Sure they were worn and dirty, but they made it. The Austins are amazing! Please, if anyone is listening out there, do not discontinue the Austin. It should be your signature uniform shoe. Thank you!

My sons' school requires an all white basic shoe and these are perfect! They last all year despite the "wear and tear" he puts on them. They never rip or get holes or shred. At least mine never have.
They are easy to clean when they need to be. I have been purchasing all kinds of shoes from Striderite for years..and I have never been disappointed. These are great quality shoes.
My only hope is they continue selling shoes for older boys because I'll keep buying them. They are worth it.

Sturdy All Leather Sneaker

We have been looking for affordable all leather black sneakers for our twin sons for a couple seasons. These are very well constructed and sturdy for everyday wear especially rainy days. The under $30 sale price made it even more attractive. The only problem is that the sneakers are slightly big but still wearable. We are pretty satisfied.
