My son has a wide foot and is very hard to find comfortable shoes. This are the only shoes he loves wearing to school. I just wish they have them at the store all year long and not just on school time.

Our son is Austic and doesn't say much. We had to try a bunch of sneakers just to get the right fit. Sometimes we had to wait for weeks to see his expressions, to know the sneakers were not comfortable. For the past 3 years we have been buying these because when we first got them he smiled. We tried another brand the last time but when he received his new Austins he jumped in them for 10 minutes, saying out loud," I am happy!"

Wide is too wide for a narrow heel

This is a nicely made shoe, but did not work out for my son. He has a wide foot, high instep and narrow heel. We tried the wide and it was too wide for his heel, so his foot would slide up and down in the back. We did not try it in the regular width. The Dallas Stride Rite in wide worked better for my son's foot.

TERRIFIC SNEAKER!

Bought this sneaker in both the black and white.
This is an especially great sneaker for me, as my son has autism, and the hook and loop gives him a great sense of independence.
The only way to improve on this beautiful design, is to make them in a bigger size for my son in future years!!!!

Just purchased the 3rd and 4th pair of these for my 7 year old--I just keep buying the same shoe in larger sizes. This is a sturdy shoe that lasts! It is acceptable for his school's uniform code, and also acceptable for PE with the non-marking soles. They're comfortable, durable, and easy for him to put on by himself. They also look good for a long time. Can't say enough good things about them. I'll be back again for the 4's and 5's!! Half way tempted to buy those now to make sure they're still around when he needs them!

my son has XW feet! Nothing fit , so I ordered these online.I wish the stores had more XW sizes for size 4 and bigger in Velcro! It is so much easier going to a store. thank goodness these fit him! Until he learns how to tie his sneakers I'll have to buy these.

My twin grandsons have had 3 pairs each of this particular shoe. If they can't kill a shoe, no one can. They are really "all boy" and can really do some damage to shoes. These shoes hold up to whatever they can deliver. They are great. The twins have worn nothing but Stride-Rite since they were 16 months old.

This is a good shoe. It is glued not stitched. My son commented that his feet felt really good in the shoes. I have noticed he is tripping and stumbling less and that is an indicator of an excellent fit. The velcro is very good too. We have had these shoes for three weeks now and are very pleased. Would love a pair in blue.

I have bought these sneakers/shoes for my son for school for the past 3 years. He is very hard on shoes-he drags his feet (toes part). Last winter we had a lot of snow here in Philly. My son didn't always wear his boots. The sneakers went through many days of getting soakin wet and then dried overnight. The one time it took 2 days for the sneaks to dry and they were still great.
These sneakers lasted from Sept-April. They would have still been good but my sons foot grew to much and needed new ones. I replaced with the same style.
Also I have noticed his feet do not stink as with shoes from say a K/wal-mart or pay less store sneakers do.
I swear these are great. Wish I would have had these for my older kids.
I will be very sad when he grows to old to wear there largest size.
All shoes on stride rite website shoes seem to last longer than the kids are in that size.

I did not even know extra wide kids shoes existed until a couple of months ago. These shoes fit my son comfortably, are easy for him to put on, and look great. I would absolutely buy them again!

The black version of this shoe is perfect to go with school uniforms where sneakers are allowed, but must be a completely solid dark color. They meet all of the requirements for school, and my child also finds them easy to put on and comfortable!

My son started Pre-K this year in a private school that is pretty strict with uniforms and I needed an all black, white or navy shoe he could wear with no other colors or logos mixed in. Also, my son has VERY wide and flat feet so it's hard to find shoes for him. And, he does not yet know how to tie his shoes properly so finding this shoe was perfect!

I bought two pairs during the BOGO and the Austin loops were a great fit. The Austin lace up were a little too narrow.

I have been purchasing this shoe for a numbear of years. It is the only shoe I wear that fits me comfortably.
Please do not discontinue the line in Black or White.

Is there a way to get notified when a shoe such as this is going to be phased out.
I originally purchased the Sperry brand in this style a number of years ago and that was discontinued.
I use the XW widths with the the velcro straps.
Fantastic shoe.
