I really wanted to like these shoes, but do not. I ordered a 5.5W for my 16 month old son. I also ordered SRT Harper and SRT Jordan. While the others are perfect, the Kyle sandal disappointed me. I should have heeded another reviewer’s comment about the straps. The strap closest to the ankle is simply too long. The strap extends over so long, it looks ridiculous. I thought I would be OK with it, but I’m not, considering how much they cost. One would think that since it is a wide, the strap should be longer. Not so, it should be proportionate to the shoe. The picture is not accurate in practical application.. This is the 4th pair of Stride Rite shoes and none of them have Velcro straps that are disproportionately long. We are keeping them since he has worn them, but I can’t wait for him to outgrow them. If I had to buy again, I would get the Ellete which has the same colors, but it is a sneaker. Perhaps the strap is a non-issue for the regular width. I wish I had tried regular width first.

These are a great fit, with or without socks. I bought them so my son can play with the sprinkler/water table and not get his sneakers muddy, and these are perfect. They offer great support (unlike flip flops), but I don't care if they get wet or muddy. I would recommend for summer.

I bought these shoes for my son last summer and he wore them till it was absolutely too cold to wear them anymore. He loved them - wore them with everything and with or without socks. They carried us through 3 seasons and so I just ordered a new pair for him for this spring, summer, and fall in his new size. Love, love, love this shoe!!

I purchased this shoe for my son, from day one the shoes made his feet sweat! Barely a month of use and the smell is so bad he cannot wear them! The straps are too long for the shoe and they are always coming undone. DONT BUY THIS SHOE

I absolutely love these shoes!! My son would usually be trying to take his shoes off but he will just go on his way with them on. They do not rub his feet if we have been outside for a long time. He has spent a lot of time in the shoes but they are still in one piece! Other shoes the soles would come out or worse. Also it use to be hard to put his foot in regular shoes but not this one!

My son (1 1/2) has EXTRA WIDE feet, so we were happy to find such cute sandals that can go in the water. Unfortunately after a month of regular wear they stunk BAD! No other shoe my son has worn has ever gotten stinky. We were able to exchange them for a brand new pair and bought a Striderite refresh spray, but the same thing happened with the new pair. (After wearing swimming I would either machine wash them or use the refresh spray to clean them and I always let them dry completely before wearing again... but the stink remains.)
I would recommend these because only if you plan to keep them dry. Or as a swimming sandal only - not both! Next year we'll get my son two separate pairs of sandals, one for swimming, one for playing when he's dry.

I totally bought this shoe for it's style. It was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a sandal but with the support of a sneaker. My only complaint is that the straps are a bit too long. They curl up at the end after a while.

These shoes are so cute, and they're just what I was looking for for my two-year-old. They're great for summer, because they're cool and they dry fast. I thought they could completely replace his athletic shoes, BUT they get rocks in them on gravel playgrounds. I can't send him to his preschool in them because as soon as he runs they fill up with rocks and he just sits down until someone comes and gets them out. It's too bad, because I really wanted them to be perfect. If he never ran on gravel, they would be.
One other thing--they do run large. He's outgrowing his 7.5 tennis shoes, so I almost bought an 8 online, but I'm glad we tried them on in the store. He needed the 7.5.

i was looking for a good 1st pair of shoes for my now walking 1yr old with fat feet. we had to get a size 4.5 extra wide. the tops of his feet are fat too and the velcro helps adjust for that where other extra wide shoes were too small. he can also wear them with or without socks. love them and will be buying another pair when he outgrows this one!!

Such a comfy shoe! My toddler doesn't want to take it off! I wish the straps were shorter. The width of the shoe is perfect but if I cinch the shoe to the correct fit, there's extra. I can see how these would definitely accommodate a wide foot!

It's so hard to find wide or extra wide shoes for my 15 months old. He has quite the chubby lil feet! These fit just rite and should work for the whole summer without having to go bigger. The only complaint are that the velcro straps are really long. I know it's to accommodate an even wider foot, but they look ridiculously long. I actually trimmed the top one and used a lighter to sing the edges so it wouldn't fray. They look fine now. There seems to be plenty of room to wear with sock too when fall comes around. I'm not huge on the style but I can't be picky when it comes to finding shoes that fit.

My son is just learning to walk when I bought these shoes. I liked that they were a "tennie" style and came up over the toes, but yet were airy enough for summer. He had no problem walking in them; they are extremely flexible and fit his feet well. The velcro straps are a little long, but other than that a great shoe.

This is the third year in a row buying this shoe (my son is 3) and both he and I LOVE IT!!!! He finds it really comfortable and great for running around outside. He can also put it on all by himself. I love it because it's supportive to his foot and you can wash them. I would definitely buy this shoe again and again and again!

We have purchased these shoes for both of our boys (ages 2 & 4). We love them & so do they. It keeps their feet cool, and keeps their toes protected. They are acceptable at our oldest son's summer camp where they must wear close toed shoes. I will definitely buy them again next year. We really love Stride Rite because they make sure our boys have the proper fit & have such dependable, long lasting comfortable shoes.

My son has very wide feet and finding shoes that fit his feet can be hard. I love these sandals bc they can get wet and they protect his toes too. They will not fall off and he can't slip in them either bc they have padding under them. I will be getting another pair soon.

We bought these shoes for our son when he was 11 months old. He wears a size 7 extra wide and these would be his first, "outside" walking shoe. They're wonderful! The width is adjustable so they fit each foot perfectly. The covered toes protect his feet when he stumbles and falls - which is often. The bottoms of the shoe have LOTS of tread which help him be more sure-footed. His balance seems to be just as good with the shoes on as when he's shoeless. They're water resistant; so even if he's playing at a water table, or exploring a puddle, the shoes still look good as new. Also, they're very breathable. There is lots of mesh and openings that allow for air circulation so we've never taken them off and found a hot or sweaty foot. We've had these shoes for a couple months. We purchased them in blue, and they go with 99% of his outfits. Also, they're super easy to slip on and off which is REALLY nice when he falls asleep in the car and we're trying to ninja him into his bed without waking him. Lastly, the velcro is very secure. The baby often tries to pull them off but cannot. Overall, this is a great shoe perfect for new walkers!
