I rated the sizing just rite but I did have to exchange them in the store. Not because the shoes weren't right just I picked the wrong size. My son grew out of his current Stride Rite's and I thought it was from length but apparently it was that he needs a wider shoe. I like that the Alec shoes have the insole that comes out so you can check the sizing. A 1 year old can't tell you his shoes are snug so that makes it much easier. BTW - exchanging in the store was so easy. A definite plus to shopping online.

I bought this shoe online for my 17 month old son who has really wide/thick feet because the stores rarely have XW in stock, especially in his size. The bungee laces just did not stretch as much as I had hoped. I think the width and size would have been perfect, I just couldn't get his feet in them! So I would not recommend if your child has thick/wide feet. They were very cute though so I do think they are good shoes just not for us. Any parent with a child with "fat" feet would understand how hard it is to find shoes you can actually get on.

My 14 month old son has gotten 2.5 months out of these shoes with many compliments! They have worn wonderfully. My only complaint is that one of the red fabric loops is beginning to rip however he is very rough on his shoes. Great fit!

Good shoe, but sizing a little off

This was our first pair of "real" big boy shoes for my 14 month old. He just started walking, and I wanted to get a good shoe that would flex with his walking. We don't live anywhere near a store that sells Stride Rite, so I had to rely on the printed version of the sizing chart. It said I should order a 6 2W. That wasn't an option, so I went with a 6 XW. I think the width fits his foot well, but is a little big in the toe area. A half size smaller would have fit his foot better, but he will grow into them, I'm sure. Overall, I really like the shoes. They are easy to get on and off and match most any outfit (blue/grey). The sizing issue could have been resolved if we lived near a bigger city, but I'm on bed rest with baby #2 and can't drive 2 hours for a fitting!

My 20 month old just moved up a size and these were waiting for him... He apparently really likes them, as he insists we put them on so he can wear them around the house. They are cute with a nice grey/taupe color that goes with almost any outfit. That said, the only thing that bothers me is that the velcro strap seems long. Although my son seems to have narrower feet than some, the Stride Rite store clerk insists he is a wide. The result is that we have to pull that velcro strap a bit tighter, which means there is a long flap left at the end. It flips up and sticks out funny - and just won't lay flat.

This was our son's first shoe we purchased as he got to walking & we loved it so much & it seemed to fit our son's wide feet so well that we bought it again when it was time to go up a size. The mostly gray shoe with red accents also goes with almost everything which is a huge plus.

My son just turned one and these are the first shoes I purchased for him. I've had great experience in the past with Stride Rite with his older brother and these shoes are no exception. He needed an extra wide shoe for his feet and these worked perfectly. Even though the shoes are extra wide, they still look great.

These are the cutest shoes. After a 22 month old wearing for 1 1/2 months there is stitching that has disappeared from the sneaker and there are holes on the front of the shoe. I would think that these shoes should have lasted at least 3 months with normal wear and tear. Not with these.

My son is almost 3 and he absolutely loves these shoes! The soles are soft enough to where he can easily bend his foot in them... no stiff-soled shoes here! They are stylish and look great on his feet too. Very happy with the purchase!

I purchased two shoes at the same time and I kept putting these on my son's feet. He has really big feet and they are extra wide. They are so comfortable on him and he walks the best in these. He's 15 months. They are also easy for me to put his foot in, strap and go!! What us mom's need:)

Purchased these shoes for my son who has been walking for about 4 months, and now he is running. Love Stride Rite's SRT technology and this one is a good in-between from Stage 2 and the more rigid soles. This is the first shoe that stays ON his feet!! He doesn't complain when I put them on and he doesn't try to get them off. This is the nicest fitting shoe he has had, and they go well with a wide range of outfits. He wears a Wide width, and this is the first shoe that doesn't look like his foot is busting out of it.

My son is 2 yrs 4 mo. He has always had extremely wide feet so we have been a faithful customer of Stride Rite since day one. We have purchased many pairs of shoes with these being the most recent.
