My son could not be happier

I loved these shoes but not as much as my son. He wore them all day Christmas day and I wasn't sure I would get them off his feet that night. They were everything he wanted. He loves that they light up.

Not Breathable material and can cause stinky feet!

We got these shoes for my 5 year old a few days before Thanksgiving. He absolutely loves them (the look). The issues I have are 1. They absolutely STINK when he takes them off. His feet smell like a man who has been in work boots all day! We have NEVER had this issue with any other shoe he's worn...never stinky feet, but you immediately take these off and are overwhelmed by stench! I think it's because the shoes are a solid vinyl like material with no breathability. 2. One of the lights quit working about 3 weeks after he started wearing the shoes. 3. He complains his feet hurt after a day of wear (he was measured in the store and they are fine in length and width...as he always is) and has never complained about fit or comfort in any shoe, stride rite or otherwise. I'm glad we got them on sale. We will stay away from the solid vinyl type material from now on. Until they wear out or he grows out of them, we'll just febreeze them every night :)

Perfect shoe!

My son loves spiderman so this was a no brainer when we went to the store. He was so excited to try them on and had to wear them out of the store. That was about 4 months ago and he still loves them. Since they went on sale, we purchased another pair 1 size larger so we would have them. Yes the lights on one shoe stopped working about a month ago, but he has not noticed.
- My favorite part of these sneakers is that if my son steps in a puddle or wet grass,, his socks stay dry. The shoe does not have any mesh type of fabric on it like most sneakers. I have had this problem with my own mesh fabric on sneakers. If it is raining or you step in wet grass, your socks get wet and it is cold and uncomfortable.
I was really surprised to read so many fair/bad reviews on this particular sneaker!
- My son is very active and plays outside a lot. His sneakers are still in great shape. I included a picture of how they look today (4 months old, almost daily wear)
We both love it and will keep buying it in larger sizes as long as it is still available (and my son still likes spiderman that is..)
- Best thing is to try on the sneaker in the store is possible, everyone is different!

My son was SO excited to get his first pair of Spiderman shoes! Looks are important to him, comfort is important to me! He loves the flashing lights. I love that his very delicate feet are being taken care of, after all, he's going to need those for the rest of his life! You can pay $40-$50 at some place like Famous Footwear or you can pay around the same price for a pair of Stride Rite shoes and know your giving your children what they need!

Disappointing

My 5 year old loves spiderman, so when we came upon this shoe, he was super excited. Bought the first pair and the lights didn't work so had to go back and exchange it for a different pair. Few days into school and the lights had already stop working. My son was so sad when it didn't light up anymore. I as a mother, was and still is disappointed. For $60 dollar, I expected more. If I could, I would take it back for a full refund. And I do have to agree with the other review, after a day wear of this shoe, it does look A few months old. Stride Rite, I am not happy with this purchase!! And to think that I was going to buy a second pair for next school year:(

Fancy but not worth the price

I really paused when it came to paying $60 with tax for shoes for a 5 yr old but am giving it a try. After a month, my son still loves them but if you are shelling out the extra money for the lights, don't bother. They last about 3 days. Also, after a week, the shoes look 3 months old. We used to buy Skechers but their quality has really declined so we are trying Stride Rite again which we bought when we was a baby. I refuse to buy cheap shoes because they fall apart even quicker. It's a real quandary. Maybe stick with black sneakers with no special features? Black seems to hide the wear better......

Great in store, but the pop doesn't last

Given how quickly kids' feet grow, I'd expect that premium priced shoes should last until the next 1/2 size - that is, a few months. These shoes looked wonderful in the store, and my son found them very comfortable and fun. However, a couple months later the velcro strap is completely worn away and the eyes don't light up any more. I would not buy these again.
