Not accommodating to wide sizes

My son has been exclusively in Stride Rite sneakers since before he could walk because of his requirement for a wide size. Until this sneaker, we have been nothing but pleased with them all. In a wide size, the shoe is cut too narrow and the single strap that folds over to velcro shut is too short to accommodate the width of the foot. We have about 1/2" to fold over onto the velcro and it pops open constantly. Unfortunately, I ordered these ahead of him being able to wear them and then attempted to let him wear them in..otherwise, these sneaks would've been returned for something more comfortable and convenient for him. It's a shame because the style looks nice and simple.

Not really wide and clumsy velcro closure

After my son wore the Saucony Grid Ingnition 2, which we bought at a Stride Rite store, for over 8 months, we decided to try something new. He needs wide sizes more for a high instep. It is hard to find shoes that are not too tight across the top of his foot. We ordered the Preschool Jack in a wide and we were no where near being able to close them. The closure may have been OK if there was more velco on the shoe for the strap to attach to. It also would have been difficult for him to use the strap as it must go through a hoop and loop before closing. I have returned them. Will stick with the Sauconys from now on!
I gave the shoes a fair for comfort because he wasn't able to wear them due to width. Also, not a very attractive shoe but I already knew that from the pictures!

Very disappointed with colors and fuction of these

I have been purchasing Stride Rite shoes for my children for most of their lives (1 & 3 yrs. old). They both have wide feet and I am a stickler for quality shoes for their developing feet, and the SRT Technology is fabulous for those little clumsy walkers! However, these SRT Preschool Jack athletic shoes are not worth the price, very bland colors along with the hook and loop closure which doesn't allow for the best fit. I took them back but now I am struggling to find another shoe for my three-year old son, since Stride Rite has such a poor selection this season and that wide foot of his.
