Better than expected

I am a first time mom (of twins) and I have always heard the Stride Rite brand was a good brand...well I didn't realize how good until my sister insisted on buying SR shoes for my boys. My sister has two children (8 & 5) so I always try to listen to her advice when it comes to my children. For my boys' 1st birthday my sister wanted to take them to buy their first pair of "real" shoes and these are the ones we got. I am not crazy about the fact that the blue shoes don't always "match" with everything, but I've learned to deal with that due to the fact that these shoes have helped my sons walk. One of my boys was already pretty steady on his feet and was walking fairly well prior to his birthday but my other son would only walk if he was pushing something. Within 2 weeks of having these shoes I have two walking one year olds...watch out world, LOL. One thing that I did know was how important a good pair or shoes is once children start walking, so I knew this was important but WOW! One thing I love about these is that they have velcro and stay on very well. The flexible soles are almost as if they aren't wearing shoes (as far as they know) but yet you get the necessary support of wearing shoes. The only problem that I have noticed with these is that they are made of all leather, so their feet do tend to sweat which causes an odor. BUT, good news, SR sells a Sandal Cleaner and Refresher for $5! I just wish that the store where we bought them would have told me that they sold it because I would have used it from the very beginning. Now the odor is there and we can't seem to get rid of it. :-( OVERALL, these shoes are wonderful for early walkers and for those who are learning to walk.
