Stitching

Its hard to believe this shoe is still on sale after all the issues people have had with the stitching. I myself just had the same issue. The bottom strap tore off after just a few months of my son using them. These were not cheap so I would expect better quality.

Awful

Cute but stitching came out leaving a huge hole in the front. My son wore them less than two months and not everyday. I basically threw $50plus away. My first time trying stride rite, never again.

Disappointed

I have to say that I was VERY disappointed in the quality of this shoe. The size and fit were great, however, the lights started going out only 2 days after we got the shoes. Also, the stitching on the shoe began to fray. The shoe is a great idea but the execution and quality was poor.

Cute idea...poor quality

Within three months of buying these shoes, the stitching between the toe and the sole came apart at the "grill" on one of them. The stitching in general seems to be coming loose on both of them everywhere--there's all sorts of strings that have come loose and are sticking up all over. Very disappointed in the quality of these. They have not held up well at all.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

I am totally disgusted at the fact that I had to pay $4.00 more at the Striderite in Danville, CA to get this shoe. I paid $52.99 plus tax and 3 weeks later, the stitching has fallen apart on the top part of the left shoe and the red rubber part on the bottom sole of the shoe is detached. Not to mention the lights do not work as well after three weeks. Total waste of money. I have stuck with StrideRite for the last 3 years between two kids and these shoes are A BOMB. They are very cute but do not hold up. The best shoes for boys were: Extinction, Dallas, and Archer.

This is our second pair of vrooms to buy. We have really loved both pair. Our son has wide, chubby feet, and these shoesboth fit and support his feet. We also love the lights b'c it helps us keep up with him on night time walks.

Great for us!

PostedFebruary 6, 2013
I'm surprised to see all of the issues others have had with these shoes! My 3 yr old wore them for 3 months straight...literally every day and they have held up great. The lights on the very front just went out, but I didn't expect them to last forever, especially since we live near Seattle and are always walking in wet weather. Other than that, his pair still looks great. We got comments on his "cool car shoes" everywhere.

Busted within 10 wears

These shoes are a complete waste of money. I bought them against my better judgement at the pleading of my four year old. Within a few wears the tops on both feet separated from the toes right at the "grill." Once could be a flaw to that particular shoe, but both is clearly a design flaw. No way to fix.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY

This is the second pair of light up shoes from stride rite that I have had issues with in the past three months. First was the Spider-Man shoes and now these. My son started wearing these in the first week of November within two weeks I was back at the store because 3 out of the 4 front lights were out. Literally a week after I got the second pair one light on the right foot is out and one light on the left foot will not go off, its constantly on. My son won't wear them anymore because it bugs him so much about the light being on. I'm very very disappointed in the past two pairs of shoes I've purchased from stride rite and I will not be buying anymore light up shoes again.

lights do not work

For a very expensive pair of children's shoes, the lights should work for more than 2 weeks. That is my opinion.

DON"T BUY THESE

Same as all the other reviewers. These are just not Stride Rite quality. This is the second pair that my son has worn and the stitching (especially in the toe) and lights have stopped working. For the money that I paid, I am VERY disappointed!

Faulty lights and stitching

PostedOctober 15, 2012

Just like the other reviews, the headlights stopped working within one week of purchase, and some stitching was coming undone. Waited 4 weeks for a replacement pair after returning to the store, but that pair were defective out of the box. I was hesitant to buy Stride Rite brand (always bought Clarks for my son, top quality) but my son wanted light up shoes like his friends. Now had a full refund and very hesitant to buy Stride Rite again.

Second pair same problems - stitching coming out.

G-Ma purchased my 4-year-old son's shoes and less then a month later, lights were out and stitching came out around toes. Drove 2 hours into the mall where they were purchased and they were very nice about exchanging them.
Now less then 1.5 weeks later the second pair is having a problem with the stitching coming out. My mother is calling the company to see if she can help me avoid another 4 hour trip to return shoes.
From many shoes purchased at StrideRite we expected good shoes. Truly disappointed and of course my son loves the shoes.

So cute- but poorly made.

Loved the car styling of these shoes so much, I bought a pair for each of my twin boys. They loved them too. Two months later, with limited use, the seam on the toe had ripped open on 3 out of the 4 shoes. However, I was very happy w/ Stride Rite's customer service and was able to exchange for different pairs.

Adorable shoe, faulty lights

PostedOctober 1, 2012

I bought these shoes for 27 month old hoping that previous reviewers had gotten lemons, but no, there seems to be a serious quality issue with th lights on these shoes. I received my order last Friday and as of yesterday - 9 days later - the front headlights on the right shoe have stopped working. My son has net yet noticed that his new shoes are broken but he will soon, and I hate to disappoint him because he was so excited by these!
Otherwise they are cute shoes, easy to get on and off, and available in wide widths which I appreciate. However this is my first pair of Stride Rites and I am not sure I will not buy another. I expect more reliability from a $50 pair of shoes --- hey, at least last 6-8 weeks so that my son can "outgrow" them before they stop working! Totally disappointed.

Lights :(

PostedSeptember 27, 2012

Just like the previous two reviewers, the lights on my son's shoes went out very shortly after purchasing. He hasn't noticed that the front ones are out yet (he's 3), but when he does, he'll be sad! We bought these when we were out of town, so returning them for a new pair wasn't really an option. Sure do wish the lights would work!

Lights kept breaking

PostedAugust 15, 2012
What age(s) are your children? 3
I was so disappointed in these shoes. They are very stylish and cute but the lights do not last. For a $50 shoe they should last longer then a week. We returned the first pair to our local store and tried another but those came out of the box with a broken light. Then I ordered a pair online and sure enough after one week one of the headlights stopped working. My son was so disappointed. We returned them as well.
