We first purchased these for my daughter in the toddler size and they fit her wide foot perfectly. We had them fitted in the store and were told that Saucony runs small so we needed a half size larger than other brands. That was fine with us. My daughter loves these shoes because she never had to worry about tying laces. I love that they carry these in the larger sizes. My daughter is only 6, but wears a size 5 big kid shoe. She has learned to tie laces, but she still prefers the velco. I just caught these on sale and ordered the next two sizes up, since we love them so much and they really hold up well. They wash nicely, too, in case they get dirty or stinky.
I have a 14 year old disabled child and these shoes work perfect for her. I love that Saucony makes wide Velcro shoes and that they go up to size 7. We discovered these shoes a year ago. We bought her they pink ones size 6 wide and now she has the purple size 7 wide... The pink ones are still in great shape..With the velcro she can be more independent and put her shoes on all by herself...And she loves that she is able to have the brand Saucony just like her mom who is a runner.
My daughter has wide feet and high arches so is very hard to fit in shoes. She is also very picky, and even though she can tie shoes, she doesn't want to bother. It is not easy to find shoes out of the toddler range that have non-lace closure, so this shoe meets all our needs. We have had this shoe for about 6 weeks, and it has held up great so far. I saw the durability issue in the other review, but we have not experienced that. She even wore these shoes non-stop for a week at overnight Girl Scout camp. They have held up great.
It does say this shoe is light weight. I just did not imagine this was referring to the durability of this shoe. These did not even last one month for my then 4 year old daughter...more like 2 weeks. The shoe developed holes and then proceeded to collapse and fall apart. I went back to the Stride Rite brand tennis shoes...no they are not as cute...but for about $5 more than these shoes...they last about 24 times as long!!!! I have bought the Stride Rite tennies before and after this purchase and they have lasted a full year and would go longer if my daughter didn't outgrow them first! Unless your child is not very active...stay away from these shoes!!
