This is a great little hiking boot, athletic shoe, or whatever your little boy wants to do in them. Not many shoes or boots out there are designed this way. Very durable, but nice and light weight so it won't weigh him down and make his legs tired. It's very well constructed, except for the toe section should have just a little more room for the toes to spread out, it's a tiny bit too narrow. They should have make an oblique design for the toes so that it's fits the natural shape of the human foot (and yes, both boys and girls, men and women, naturally have an oblique design to their toes). The europeans have mastered the oblique design of the toe box, making sure not to crush the bones into a point and cause foot problems. Overall this is a good design, and I just wish they had something like this for little girls as well because they seem to only had this flimsy, pointed-toe, unsupportive footwear. They need to make the same thing for girls in pink or lighter pastel colors.

Good shoe for the price. Bought them on sale for roughly 20 dollars or so. My son hasn't had a chance to where them much because of the lack of snow or cold weather for that matter.

I bought these for my grandson who is three years old. He was always taking his shoes off, until he started wearing these. They are very easy to get on and look very nice on.

A boon for wide feet

We didn't have a lot of choices, since there's not much out there for wide feet at this price point. But I'm glad that these are here--they've made my kids very happy. My 'lumberjack' five-year-old with XW feet got these first. They fit him great, comfortable right out of the box. His older and younger brothers wanted them, too, and got them. Now all three boys are in these boots, and all fit well. They are comfortable enough for everyday wear to school, and rugged enough for hiking and climbing. Thanks, Stride Rite! Please keep these wide-width hikers in production.

Great boot, but not if you need orthotics

Love these cute boots. Only problem is that we need the insole to be removable so that we can insert our son's orthotic insoles. Unlike other Stride Rite shoes we've purchased, these insoles were glued in so firmly that there was no way to get them out without ripping them apart. Once kids start with orthotics, they need to wear them in all their shoes or the ones without orthotics feel weird to them. Rather than send these back, we just wear them occasionally but wish we could wear them more often. Please allow an option to order with removable insoles or no insoles at all. Otherwise, really love these and so does our son.

MY SON LOVES HIS NEW BOOTS. THEY FIT GOOD & ARE NOT TOO CHUNKY. HE CAN WALK & RUN WELL WITHOUT TRIPPING. I SPRAYED THEM WITH SCOTCH GUARD SO THEY WOULD BE WATER RESISTANT OVER THE TOES WHERE IT IS MAINLY LEATHER.

These are super cute and comfortable. Go great with jeans or dress them up with khakis. My three-year-old was so excited to show them off at preschool. I bought these on sale, but I would buy them again at full price.
