Perfect for wide foot, high instep

This boot fit my "hard to fit" son's foot perfectly. He has a wide foot with a high instep. The Velcro closures make it easy for him to put them on and off by himself, and adjust the fit. The shoe is good looking and appropriate for colder weather. It also has a nice, deep tread. We bought the wide width.

Well, today is the first day my son has worn these shoes... I was worried they would be too big as his previous shoes (payless brand) were size 10's and I ordered these in size 11.5. His old shoes were not too small, yet these shoes fit wonderfully....I would encourage to size up. I like the support they give his ankles. They are very nice looking and seem great for the oncoming winter season of mud and rain.....I will be sure to update if anything happens as one of the other reviewers has mentioned. Hoping these last him through the season!!

Soles fell off after 3 months... disappointing.

I bought these for my son's kindergarten school year, and it is now 3 months later. He complained about his socks getting wet and I noticed that there were three squares (manufacturer shaped, like a "peg" fell out) where the sole fell out.
After trying to reach Stride Rite on the customer service line (four 20+ min waits and gave up), I sent an email with images, then called in and selected "to place an order" and only waited 3 minutes instead.
They first tried to state that I needed to pay for the return of the shoes for their inspection to determine if I qualified for a replacement, but have ultimately agreed to pay return shipping as a courtesy.
When I bought the boots, I bought a second pair for a backup, and am now worried I will get the same issue with those. For a good quality brand, which Stride Rite is overall, it has been both a disappointing purchase and customer service experience for the first time in 5 years, and am hoping that they agree to replace :(

Rough and Tuff!

I received these in four days, super speedy delivery. My sons both love these boots and my younger one wants to wear them everyday. Good fit, stylish and sturdy, what more can a mom of too rough and tuff boys want?
